Thoughts on sustainability

I have had a genuine interest in, curiosity and passion for materials for as long as I can remember.

I make material choices without exception based on durability, skin friendliness.

At the same time, "feeling must arise" between material, design and design language as well as the tactile in the meeting with my hands.

My jewelery consists largely of metals and I see a fascination in that the metals are allowed to retain their "identity", that the metal is allowed to live its own life based on its properties and the environment in which they are placed.

Textile recycling, vintage, semi-precious stone and freshwater pearls also have a significant space in my creation.  

From an environmental point of view, I rarely choose to surface-treat my jewelry, but exceptionally it may be needed. Sometimes I also give recommendations in the product description there about.

I always strive for my jewelry to be able to be worn regardless of allergies or not and I am constantly on the lookout for materials and components that fit into that endeavor. Although there are always exceptions, there is a minimal percentage, but still existing, of individuals who respond to surgical steel and / or gold and / or silver, metals that the average person often thinks are "allergy friendly".

For some time now, I have had a good collaboration with and support a daily operation within Umeå Municipality. They sew the really nice envelopes in which all my jewelry is delivered. Wool, velvet and linen, all durable, it is residual material or other forms of recycling.

Daily activities are close to my heart as I worked earlier in life in disability care and related daily activities, a in many ways both rewarding and challenging work, but above all it meant a lot of joy. 

In addition, I came in contact with another form of daily activity when many years ago I ran into the famous "wall" and later went out to work training, in fact in the same premises as where it is today sewn to Urberg Design. The whim of fate, or simply a nice coincidence, regardless, it feels extra warm in the heart.

Recycling, or "Reuse", has a significant and prioritized space in my jewelry art. Before each purchase, I always examine opportunities for recycling or to buy used, in the first place, in everything from jewelry materials, packaging, signs, tags to supplement equipment, etc.

Really durable then!
